PP Staggered Inclined Tube Packings

In the wastewater treatment processes like UNITANK which allows biological aeration and sludge settling within the same physical space, conventional aligned inclined tube settlers featuring a single-directional inclination, limits their applications in such a complex hydraulic condition. The treated wastewater at the sedimentation phase not only encounters forward cross flows but also countercurrent and concurrent flows. As a result, conventional aligned inclined tube packings are unable to achieve the intended shallow-distance sedimentation. To address this issue, ZCEN staggered inclined tube packings offer a more advanced and satisfactory solution.

Product Advantages

  • During the aeration phase of UNITANK process, the bottom of the inclined tubes is subjected to continuous, strong, irregular upward thrust resulted from the uprising air-water mixed liquid. The staggered inclined tube packings can evenly and effectively disperse this upward force through the staggered tube arrangement. In contrast, conventional aligned inclined tube packings with a single-directional inclination may fail to disperse this force efficiently to minimize the long-term effect of wear and tear, which eventually leading to the tube damage;

  • The geometry of the packings provides excellent cutting and dispersion effects on the rising air bubbles, promoting more uniform air distribution and diffusion to improve oxygen utilization efficiency;

  • The staggered layout of the packings enhances the collision between air and mixed liquid flow, thereby increasing the transfer rate of oxygen from the air into the wastewater;

  • When aeration stops, the staggered inclined tube packings allow the activated sludge to settle evenly and avoid tube blockages which typically can be observed within aligned inclined tubes and have localized reduction in nitrification efficiency.

Structural Features

  • The staggered inclined tube packings consist of 60 ° inclined tubes formed by hot-pressing polypropylene (PP) plates with flat sheets of specified dimensions. These components are hot welded together in layered and staggered arrangements;

  • Made of polypropylene (PP), the packings are light weight, corrosion resistant, structural rigid, and impact resistant to continuous water current;

  • The surface is smooth, and free from cracks, bubbles, color variations, impurities, and noticeable irregularities;

  • The inclined tubes are set at a 60 ° inclination in staggered patterns, offering an excellent sludge-sliding performance without dead zones.
