In backwashing, especially in air-water backwashing processes, the key to uniform air and water distribution lies in the levelness of the nozzles, and its prerequisite is the levelness of the nozzle slabs.
ZCEN has developed an installation methodology using high-precision steel-mold reinforced concrete nozzle slabs with high-strength sealant-sealed jointing process, to overcome the drawbacks of poor levelness, poor air-tightness, and difficulty in vertically installing nozzles in conventional nozzle slabs. This technology has been widely adopted in new water plant installation and retrofitting and upgrading of existing water plants. -
U-Shaped Underdrain Tubes
The U-shaped underdrain tubes for water and air distribution are low-pressure resistant, featuring a unique dual-layer water and air distribution structure with upper and lower layers. It consists of horizontal water and air distribution pipes (U-shaped underdrain tubes), vertical water distribution pipes, and vertical air distribution pipes. This structural design ensures that the uniformity of water and air distribution in the shutter filters is superior to other types of low-resistance air-water distribution systems. The inner and outer surfaces of the horizontal U-shaped underdrain tubes are smooth and flat, with wall thicknesses that meet requirements and are uniformly distributed. They exhibit good straightness and possess sufficient stiffness. During the initial installation of filter media or when the filter bed is empty for maintenance, the horizontal U-shaped underdrain tubes can withstand the pressure generated by the filter media and support layers above without any deformation or damage.

The denitrification deep bed filter is an integrated unit combining biological nitrogen removal and filtration functions. It uses specially designed large-particle-sized, thick-layer, homogeneous filter media as the biofilm support medium for denitrifying bacteria. Under conditions with added carbon sources, it functions as a denitrifying deep bed filter capable of removing total nitrogen (TN), suspended solids (SS), and total phosphorus (TP). Without added carbon sources, it operates as a deep bed filter, simultaneously removing SS and TP, thereby achieving multi-functional use and flexible operation.
